How often do I need a shot?

For proper protection the so-called basic immunisation is important. To achieve this, people need (according to our present knowledge) 2 vaccinations with one of the approved Corona vaccines. Only 7 days after the second shot you will be properly protected against Corona.

Since immunisation decreases over time, the Nationale Impfgremium (NIG) recommends a third shot, which is also called revaccination or booster. This booster shot is particularly important for people with a weakened immune system including cancer patients, organ transplant patients as well as older persons. But this third dose will also enhance protection against infection or severe illness for all other people.

A booster is recommended 4 to 6 months after the second shot.
