Does vaccination really protect me?
All Corona vaccines which are approved and used in Austria offer good protection. This means that if you are fully vaccinated, you will have very little risk of becoming seriously ill or even dying of Corona.
Why can we be so sure about this? Because there are authorities whose sole purpose is to ensure the safety and protection of vaccinations. The competent authority for Europe is the European Medicines Agency (EMA). In Austria, we have the Nationale Impfgremium (NIG), a team of experts of the Federal Ministry. Both expressly recommend the approved vaccines for protection against Corona.
However, vaccination not only protects you - you also protect the people around you! It means that once vaccinated, you will be less contagious to others if you nevertheless are infected with the Corona virus.
